Diabetic Feet

Friction and pressure are important negative factors for diabetic feet. Research results of the project partners, on the one hand regarding biomechanical characteristics and on the other hand regarding shoe materials, will be used in this case study. Adjustments of the shoe materials (regarding microclimate) and of the shoe shape (adapted to the biomechanical characteristics of the patient) could mean an important step forward in the comfort and well-being of our target group.

Based on the knowledge we have gained in the FOOTyWEAR project, we also would like to investigate other populations in future research projects. It paves the way for research into the characteristics and needs of other problematic feet (e.g. rheumatic feet) or specific populations (women, specific races...).
