FOOTyWEAR is a biennial international research project within the CORNET(*) funding program. The project runs from 1/12/2012 to 30/11/2014.

In this project, different aspects that are essential in the prevention of foot problems and in innovative shoe design are examined. On the one hand, biomechanical aspects are examined by mapping and optimizing the current methods for biomechanic foot analysis and determination of foot types. On the other hand, physiological aspects will be examined so as to optimize shoe materials hygienically, in comfort and in safety.

The research is conducted by 3 partners:

  • MOBILAB, Multidisciplinary Research Lab for Biomedical and Rehabilitation Technology of Thomas More. MOBILAB also coordinates the project
  • IPS (Leather Institute - Lodz)
  • PIPS (Polish Chamber of Shoe and Leather industry - Lodz)

(*) CORNET promotes European cooperation between programmes in collective research, in which global international project proposals are submitted by a consortium of partners of at least two participating countries or regions. The funding agencies are IWT for Flanders (Agency for Innovation through Science and Technology) and NCBiR for Poland (National Centre for Research and Development).
